I was invited to Egg Story Digital Arts School a few days ago and they gave me a wonderful tour and take a sneak peek at their facilities. I was very impressed with their student’s work. The school have invested heavily on high end equipments. They have 1 of those 3D TV which does not require the 3D glasses. I was beyond surprise when they showed me that.
Egg Story Digital Arts School is having a 3 days Seminar next week which takes a closer look at Stereoscopic 3D technology. Well-known speakers such as Peter Hillman from Weta Digital who worked on Avatar and Jim Heji from Electronic Arts will be present.
The Seminar also has AK Madhavan from Crest Communications expand on the business of 3D animation, Enrique Criado expand on the art of stereographic cinematography, perception and creativity while John Dillon (of Powerpuff Girls and Astro Boy fame) explain how to bring characters to life in 3D. Clyde De Souza and Jimmy Wong, entrepreneurs and experts in their respective fields, complete the line-up.
The three full-day seminar will be followed by Q&A sessions and opportunity to network. This is the perfect platform for people within the industry, and those aspiring for a career in animation and new media to come together.

It was a lazy afternoon and guess what did i do? Watch a German arts movie.
The wonderful DVD.
Wer früher stirbt ist länger tot (literally “the one who dies first is dead for longer”) tells the story of Sebastian, a kid whose mother died during childbirth. Growing up in a small village in Bavaria, where Catholicism is the rule, Sebastian feels an enormous amount of guilt that he tries to come to terms with, which gives way to all kinds of comic situations as the young boy struggles to make himself immortal in order not to end up in purgatory for his “murder”.
Religion and the adult world are filtered through childish fantasy, resulting in a light-hearted treatment of serious universal themes like death and grief, loneliness and love. Mix that with beautiful cinematography helped by Bavarian landscapes, folk tales, traditions and a bit of rock & roll. The dream sequences in the movie are somewhat over the top and even Germans might need subtitles for some parts of the dialoges (not if you understand Bavarian, like me. LOL!). But the script is full of nice little ideas as Sebastian is trying to turn immortal to escape hell together with all of his adventures. The film is really nicely shot and the actors pretty convincing and charming.

Brilliant things you can see (some may not be legal in Singapore) in this film:
- A kid drinking beer
- A kid serving beer
- A bike with Bavarian flags on it
- Bavarian slang
- Bavarian landscapes
- Munich's Hauptbahnhof (Train Station)
- Full slow-mo man-butt (perky ones)!
Considering this comes from the same state as Lederhosen, Volksmusik and other German stereotypes, this movie is surprisingly free of all those and is really touching and funny and heart-warming.
It is possible that I miss being there. (I was there a couple of times before!)
Its a MUST WATCH!
Urban tools for (man)chic geeks, like me

Have you ever heard about Urban Tools? If not, then you are in for a treat. Especially if you are a urbanista (man)chic geek, like me.
I was recently invited to preview the Urban Tool’s latest bag and accessories in their new boutique at Square 2.
Being a popular brand in Europe and Australia, it has finally arrive in Singapore. The bags from Urban Tool is very different from the usual bags you can find in any shops in Singapore. Instead of carrying or slinging the bag, you wear them. And all of them are very well designed. It’s sort of like geek fashion. There are lots of pockets for your phone, MP3 player, wallets, keys, thumbdrive and other gadgets.
My favourite bag in their collection is the caseBelt. It has 4 pockets for your small gadget like phone and camera. And a small slot for smaller gadgets like MP3 player. The thing I like most is that it comes in 6 colours and you can wear it like a belt or across your shoulder.
Here, i am wearing it as a belt and what surprises me is that i can totally pull the look off and it looks like part of my “ensemble” for the day already. So, there is not much changes to the look that i am carrying but instead, it just made my life simpler by having more pockets for my gadgets to my body. See how ergonomically the design of the bag is. I LOVE IT!
Its so popular that it gets @dk and @jayden trying it on!
The material of these bags are so soft and its machine washable! And It doesnt have any zippers and buttons!
They also have models for the ladies, which has a more vibrant colours and with Swarovski crystals!
Here, @nicole85 is trying out their sportHolster which comes in 4 colours!
Another bag that i love is their laptop bag. Which again, is just so beautiful.
It has such a nice design to it i dont mind carrying it out even though i am not having my laptop in it!

I was lucky enough to be invited for the media preview of Light of Spring event.

This Lunar New Year, family and friends can enjoy Sentosa in a whole new light with Sentosa Lights of Spring, the island resort’s first night-time lighting event. The event, which will be held over nine nights to usher in the Year of the Tiger, kicks off on 13 February 2010.

“Woven around the theme ‘Circle of Life’, the collection of light displays and creative light projections will transform the event grounds into a magical experience that will charm both young and old,” says Jimmy Wong, Events Director, Sentosa Leisure Group. “With this night-based event, we want families to come together during the festive season and enjoy the variety of attractions and leisure offerings at Sentosa, while they capture their happy moments together against a backdrop of
colourful lights.”

The event will take place at Imbiah Lookout – Sentosa’s attractions cluster where history, nature and adventure meet – and the Merlion Walk. Both venues will be transformed into an enchanted land filled with a medley of colours and brilliant fairy lights. One light display that will thrill both the young and old is a series of light sculptures in the form of the 12 Chinese Zodiac signs at the
Images of Singapore forecourt and the Merlion Plaza. Each Zodiac character has been handcrafted from rattan and wire mesh, and interwoven with fairy lights.

At 45-minute intervals every night, guests at the Merlion Plaza will be treated to a stunning light and sound show featuring a cinematic display of shapes, images and colours on the façade of the iconic Merlion.
Guests can also capture memorable photo moments with their loved ones against the backdrop of various light sculptures and displays around the event grounds. ‘Happy Family’ comprises a family of tiger sculptures that will be brought to life through the creative use of lights, while ‘Rings of Enchantment’ features ten light rings illuminated in vivid colours that represent popular wishes for the New Year - Happiness, Health, Abundance, Love, Harmony, Togetherness, Wealth, Longevity, Knowledge, and Peace.

Couples will be able to pose for photos in the ‘Language of Love’, a beautiful Victorian garden pavilion, while parents can get photos of their kids pulling on the bell cords in the ‘Bells of Prosperity’ hanging floral bouquets display to ring in the New Year.
Guests can also enjoy performances by a trio of musicians with instruments rarely seen in Singapore and interact with stilt-walkers dressed as the God of Fortune, Rainbow Walker and Cupid as they stroll around the event grounds.
