Ngawur : Anyhowness. Yes, that is the title of the performance i had yesterday night in Geylang Serai, Malay Village. It was the closing ceremony of their monthly activities because fasting month is coming, and its the Artist-In-Resident 60th Anniversary, and their founder's wedding anniversary and all, so it was a huge huge celebration. and also a huge and complete mess. i mean, its nice. really. i am veyr proud to be in the celebration with all the festivities. i was technically etched in the history of Malay Village, which, soon, will be crashed down for a better developement??.
Anyways, gruelling rehearsals started 5 weeks ago, with intensive music making in NUS, where our gamelan room is. then the last week, we were at Malay Village, Singgahsana Hall (supposedly, Singgahsana Hall is where all the royalties come to gather and chill in the palace).
anyways, the performance turned out pretty ok. noting that the whole thing was over-miked, a little to little lighting, bad stage management, bad cues, and pretty much nothing went as planned. and it was delayed by at least 45 mins ( i dunno if its the malay thing, but u know, i always try to be on time)
so, yeah. we ended pretty much after 1030pm. but it was all fun really. i had the best time and its all for the nostalgia.
ok, photowhoring time, as always. oh, so sorry if the photos are of sub-standard quality. i am getting used to my Lumix again, after long time hiatus with it. i mean, if you have and SLR, why would you want to use a "point and shoot" right? oh, the agony. i am so going to get a DSLR soon, or, if anyone is kind enough to let me loan it on long term!?
